Any Gamers in the house?

by on Feb.19, 2010, under Gamers, Hosting, Ubuntu, Ultimate Edition

As promised; We have our own dedicated Urban Terror Server up (this was not free) & rocking the house, thanks to finetuch. He will be accepting donations to help absorb the costs involved. You will be able to read his official announcement on his website http://ultimateurbanterror.info in a few days. I have administered the sites to split the server load (7 servers will handle the load overall) to keep ping time down on the gaming server. You can read about that on our forum, you can also learn how to connect to it from there it is fast & would like to give some credit to psybergaming.net

A few things I have learned testing the gaming server… Xfire really has crawled under my skin with their lack of Linux support. 4 years of it, read all 17 pages from there. I won’t leave our gaming users out in the cold. On a lighter note, I have created a newer urban-terror-extra-maps version 0.0.3 those using Ultimate Edition 2.4 Gamers it will automatically be upgraded, it is huge, bigger then the game itself & covers a vast majority of Urban Terror users.

Just so you do not think all I have been doing is playing games, in which I have enjoyed. I have dropped Ultimate Edition 2.6 Alpha to admin, mods and beta testers. It has received a warm welcome. I have also been doing a bunch of hardware work, including upgrading / building (undecided currently) the PC that will eventually build Ultimate Edition 2.6 final, both are fast.

USB 3.0 / Sata III is new technology, while first available for Linux is not w/o issue. With this upgrade allows me to be more productive. I really do not want to get into the details, however the same mainboard / cpu that previously built Ultimate Edition will be auctioned on ebay. Sorry for the amount, Quad Core & Quad Crossfire it is no slouch & quite the gaming rig. Worth $300 probably not; sentimental priceless. Still works like a champ.

I hope to see you on our gaming server.

TheeMahn is a POS

by on Feb.02, 2010, under Ultimate Edition

I have endured much worse. I have now enjoyed how much our users hate us (certain it is not our users it is wiki). Wikipedia tells me I am a POS. Be glad I do not have an acct there. Funny, I do not see harassment from Ubuntu any more and Jane is now your CEO. People hate me as well as love me. My goal is what you need to re-think.

I am about progression not regression. I have a new beta tester that says Ultamatix wakes up πŸ˜‰ Many can perceive that to be my downfall to even pick up. Let’s all see how it turns out in the end. I have done nothing, but attempt to help you. I ask for 0 from you. I am not about money. Almost all other nix’s produced make sure they are paid first, I do not care. I have ate it more then once. My entire life have I asked for a donation? Think about that…

Ultimate Edition Gamers

by on Jan.23, 2010, under Gamers, Linux, Ubuntu, Ultamatix, Ultimate Edition

We have a new gamers; many have been snagging w/o a official announcement (90 ppl before it was even finished uploading), now consider it official. Let me explain what it is.

I took Ultimate Edition 2.4 installed 255 updates / upgrades. I then installed a new theme “Lava”, installed Urban Terror, and a map pack I have written for it.

Well that does not sound like much of a gamers edition does it? According to a Bubble Cash report, Ultamatix will provide you 46 additional games soon to be 49. In case you did not catch that a new Ultamatix is also coming. I can only cram so much on a DVD. Why Urban Terror?

Finetuch is going to pay for a dedicated Urban Terror server so us UE users can beat the tar out of each other πŸ˜‰ You can read and learn more about that here. I look forward to beating a few of you down myself while I relax thanks to the Delta 9 products that are great for this. Please pay close attention to architecture when downloading. I do want to point out I no longer run windows; why? I kept it around for games; I have no use for it anymore. When I am done you will as well.

A few shots for you, note all shots are off a live USB stick:

Compiz live Ultimate Edition 2.4 Desktop

Sorry to spend an extra day have what will be our urban terror server http://ultimateurbanterror.info. Finetuch is your admin there. I will whack a few of you for sure. A free for all is coming. I can personally unleash stress there, although I also use cbd products like jeeter juice which also help me feel less stressed. Wait until it is officially set up, you will quickly understand. Sick puppies tells me one of us is going down. I will not accept anything short of a 1 to 1 ratio, I will earn it.

Enjoy ladies & gents,

TheeMahn

by on Jan.16, 2010, under Ultimate Edition

Wow, misunderstood, I built the the O/S as to be installable & failed, runs directly off the USB stick. I have placed intuition prior. Gamers is coming guess what we will host the event. Wait until you see the big picture. I hope to be able to hand you each your butt. We have a “new release” coming, prior to release of UE 2.6.

We will have a Gamers Edition…

Merry Xmas

by on Dec.23, 2009, under Linux, Themes, Ultimate Edition

Ho, ho, ho

Some of you may or may not know Ultimate Edition started out as "Ubuntu Christmas Edition" a few years ago. You can read more about that on our wiki. I thought, I would continue a bit of tradition and at least drop a xmas theme for you ladies & gents. The theme as well as another new theme (on themelinux.com home page) can be viewed on my new site here.

Merry Christmas,

TheeMahn

Ultimate Edition 2.5

Ultimate Edition 2.5

Ultimate Edition 2.5?

What is Ultimate Edition 2.5? Ultimate Edition 2.5 was built off Ultimate Edition 2.4 (Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 based) all upgrades pre-installed as of current. It has KDE, XFCE, and Gnome user selectable at login, 3 new themes and tons of apps. This release is huge obviously bigger then UE 2.4 πŸ˜‰ I am not going to spend my time writing a webpage, but just a post. Even though it is a very worthy release and deserves a webpage. I have alot on my plate in programming and other activities & I do mean alot. It has been out about a week, forum users have been grabbing it left and right.

It took me about a week to get the time to write this post albeit a webpage for it.

Screenshots can be viewed on the forum as well as additional download links. I am going to provide only one dowload link (25 mirrors) on this post from sourceforge; perhaps our bandwidth issues are now a thing of the past & maybe, just maybe I can do my job πŸ˜‰

Enjoy,

TheeMahn

Ultimate Edition 2.4 Work in progress…

by on Oct.27, 2009, under Linux, Ubuntu, Ultimate Edition

Yes, I have been building Ultimate Edition 2.4; it is based on Ubuntu Karmic Koala 9.10. I am running it as a matter of fact. It was built off a daily build of 9.10. The final release of Ultimate Edition 2.4 will be re-built off a final of Karmic. This is just a screencast to get the juices flowing. It is lightning fast especially where booting is concerned. I have also developed a Ultimate Edition 2.4 theme pack (2.4.5), unreleased to the public currently. The theme pack will install in Ubuntu Karmic as I am doing in the screencast below on a raw copy of Karmic in a virtual machine.

Ultimate Edition 2.4 Theme pack (2.4.5):

  • 4 GTK2 Themes
  • 2 Usplash’s x86 / x64 (autodetects architecture)
  • 4 Amarok Themes
  • 13 Wallpapers
  • Cairo clock theme (optional)
  • 6 Compiz cubecaps
  • 1 Skydome
  • 1 Xsplash (karmic+ based distros)
  • 4 Emerald themes
  • 1 TTF font
  • 2 GDM Themes (currently only in Jaunty or below)
  • 1 Icon theme (~15,000 icons)
  • 1 Sound theme

All is subject to change before final release. The default wallpaper changes color depending on time of day. This theme pack will be pre-installed in Ultimate Edition 2.4 when released. True work for me begins in 2 days. Just trying to make sure you ladies and gents don’t think I am screwing off over here πŸ˜‰ Sorry about the choppiness in the beginning of the video I am no longer running 2 video cards.
