Thanks for caring…

A lot has change on my end, Mr. Breeg let me know our sites were down. The next day it came back up after I paid for it. I have been without inet for nothing short of a month, deter-mental to a fella like me. Like I said alot has changed. I no longer reside where I did. Funny, a month off-line did not deter me, 14 GB of ebooks say the end results you will see, some may say thank you for going offline, but that is later.
I am back with purpose & the true purpose is programming. You will see it. Ultamatix can eat it. The impact of what I am writing? Initially, all Linux based O/S’s. What is the “Other O/S”?
TheeMahn,
Let’s get some attention…

by TheeMahn on Mar.15, 2011, under Ultimate Edition
Release INFO: I hope you did not think I forgot about you KDE users. Tons of testing and 0 negative feedback. I did try and sneak one over and release it to forum users first. Grab it before distrowatch.com becomes keen to the situation 😉
Please feel free to comment was it worth the wait?
Enjoy,

Ultimate Edition 2.6.1 – more then a maintenance release

Ultimate Edition 2.6.1 – more then a maintenance release.
This has been around long enough to have been downloaded ~ 4,000 times (forum users). I felt since Ubuntu drops maintenance releases. IE 10.04.1, it is Long Term Support (LTS), for us to to do likewise. I do not look for there to be a Ultimate Edition 2.6.2, for a lack of a better word I feel is perfect. For my perceivable future I intend to run this O/S, not that there is anything wrong with Ultimate Edition 2.8 or 2.9. Amazing how many bugs get squashed shortly after a “final release”, a few I have personally implemented. I am thinking Ultimate Edition 2.9 only to run momentarily as I build it. Why some may ask? I am not a KDE mahn and prefer stability 😉
If I was currently running Ultimate Edition 2.6, would I run out and snag 2.6.1? If I was happy with my current O/S absolutely not, the only real gain would be the “fixes”, updates and upgrades, which you have probably already downloaded & installed through your update manager. If I somehow managed to whack my O/S 2.6.1 would be the logical answer. I now take this back, after seeing what it now does. Ultimate Edition 2.6.1 was built off 10.04.1 a total re-build. It will be my main O/S until at the very minimum Ultimate Edition 3.0.
I unleashed the below on the forum users & many loved it, however what we have now is a multitude better. A complete re-build from the ground up & why the great delay. I can not stress how much better Ultimate Edition 2.6.1 is over 2.6.
Well on to the details, what is Ultimate Edition 2.6.1? Ultimate Edition 2.6.1 is a Long Term Supported (LTS) release. Changes in Ultimate Edition 2.6.1 v/s Ultimate Edition 2.6 are as follows:
Updates / Upgrades:
- 10.04.1 is the base of the build, many fixes and upgrades pre and post applied.
- Kernel 2.6.32-27 (rebuild of vmlinuz and initrd.lz & purged all older kernels)
- All UE based themes rebuilt and replaced (this will add gigs of additional free space to the O/S in the future)
Bug Fixes:
- Cursor / Compiz issue
- Broken repository removed
- Removed wine-doors (broken)
- Fixed metapackage
- Fixed progress bar going beyond 100%
Additional Software:
- Ailurus
- Imagination
- Cairo clock
- Miro
- Moovida
- Exaile
- Conky script
- Samba
- Gphpedit
- Chromium browser
- Sound juicer
- Rip off
- Ultimate Edition 2.8 theme (Ultimate Edition 2.6 theme remains default)

I have also re-wrote the conky-builder it executes on bootup and generates as per your hardware (does not autorun conky itself, I leave that up to the end user). I love eyecandy:
I would have to say this is the flagship of all UE releases in my personal opinion (provided you have the hardware, otherwise I suggest Ultimate Edition Lite). I have had beta testers calling me telling me to ship it. I have spent months perfecting it. You will feel the love. Please try and take it easy on the servers until it is fully mirrored.
Here is some stats for you this site’s traffic 2010:
Unique Users: 1,507,045
Number of Visits: 9,490,858
Page views: 33,997,354
Hits: 66,028,220
Transfer: 2711.20 GB (nothing but webpages & images here)
I like to see the rise in the graph:
The repository is chillin, we have tons of unused bandwidth thanks to Sourceforge. The graphs below are 2009 and 2010 respectively, Sept 2009 we stopped hosting Ultimate Edition:
Sourceforge has ate Petabytes for us, I do not know what we would do with out them. We do have an admin that has volunteered to take over one of the sites I have neglected. None of the above listed, more on that later. We have 10 sites total, 9 more volunteers (actually 8 I am going to drop our urban terror server). A vacation for me lol.
I have way too much on my plate. I have written a script I call repomaster that will handle much of my work automously. It is not perfect yet. When complete all UE users will get a slew of new packages, it will not allow a package to have an error. If something is screwed up then point the finger at Lintian or the dev and yes this includes me. I am 1 Mahn & if I can use my knowledge to automate, so be it 😉 More on that later, when I get it to 100%.
Enjoy UE 2.6.1,
TheeMahn
P.S. Ultimate Edition 2.9 is just around the corner.
I want you to think…

I am not writing this to make myself feel more at home, this is a screenshot from about 1 year ago. I want you to pay attention to the day May 11th. Then dual monitors. I really want you to look below the cursor to know that 2.6.1 was already produced.
Have I released it? (sure it is there for those that know)
I have allot of issues for one I am using my girlfriends computer, which she offered to give back to me. I gave to her, I am indian, but not a indian giver & does not hold a candle, I hope you find out later.
I may quit my job. She has level 3 cancer, my job may dimish. Please understand why I am not here. I have been with her 11 years. Does not take me long to weight the balances of life.
A moment…

I would love to tell you Ultimate Edition 2.9 is here. I am going through some times, sad when I have to use my better halfs machine to do so. My machine does not have inet more on that later. I am working to resolve. I have software coming I have wrote that may open a eye or 2. I am going to try to not talk about that now, I have been offered to be copywritten free. This is not being written for Joe Blow, but the Big boys.
Let’s leave that, UE 2.9×64 my understanding is good, x86 will now have to wait until I have inet. I have inbound, what I pray to fix.
I have built 100’s of computers, this one has me stumped. It does make me wonder. What I am writing will have a huge impact, did they take out my inet? I will soon know. Drop the house next time 😉
Merry Xmas from the UE Team…
by TheeMahn on Dec.25, 2010, under Linux, Themes, Ubuntu, Ultimate Edition
I was hoping to have a nice gift for you xmas level, minty wise. I have failed.
As said there, I want to at least provide you a xmas theme. You guys have no idea how hard I work, but will show through on our next release.

I do not stop working even on Xmas. I would to love to tell you what I was building. I have a new toy that says a Netbook Edition of Ultimate Edition is also coming. I have probably 10 computers in house 0 were laptops / tablet based pc’s. Local testers provide feedback before I even consider uploading. The notebook issue a new fish to fry. This will open new doors. I have one of these to work magic on. Toshiba M750.
I would love to show you compiz on a tablet pc. I have shocked many.
Eventually, I may drop a video of it. I am here for your best interest. Sleep tight in knowing I will not prematurely release what you deserve. I am not about releasing an O/S every other day, but to release stability. All I ask in return is to give me the time to ensure you get the best. The survey would be a plus, but I do not require it.
Releasing an O/S every other day would shove us up the chain as far as distrowatch. I have a large ego, but prefer to sit down the list. Do you feel I am wrong for that mode of thinking? Sorry, I could not give you a better Xmas present.
Many feel I should just take over by storm, yes we can. I personally do not want to be remembered for such. I honestly care. Do you think any of the top 10 do?
TheeMahn,
Follow me…

I wish I could tell you it is coming (will shock even the most avid user), each day goes by the doors closes. I said I was done neglecting this site. I want you to see what I have in store for you. I probably should not show that until it is in place. I attempt not hide things. I am torn, I have been writing a survey, my local admin tell me #1 question should be How knowledgeable are you in Linux / Ultimate Edition? Thinks we have a ton of noobs here, this is o.k. I told him throughout the survey I would provide info. What is Unity, what is Gnome 3? I want to provide those answerers unbiased. He feels 100 questions is too much what is your thoughts? Major changes are coming and I want to get to the bottom of it. I have the ability to build your O/S. Think of it this way:
Your IP is 64.24.36.119. It appears that you are currently running Ultimate Edition 2.6 (this can be inaccurate, but will be recorded). Only one vote is allowed by each user. According to our database this IP has not voted yet. I would like to thank you for taking the time to help me, help you to make a better operating system. Your username if you have registered here or on the forum is optional, however the weight in which decisions will be finalized will be based on a formula which allows registered users a higher percentage on the outcome.
How many questions are appropriate. He said 100 from a guest, is not going to happen. I said 1% votes as a guest @ 100,000+ a day? I am not here to speculate. What is your thoughts before I delve into Surveyville.
