I have a relatively fresh install of UE 5.7 on a 500gb HD on my laptop but have just bought a 120gb SSD and would like to migrate over to it. Is there a simple way to do this, clone it, or would I be better to just drop the new SSD into the laptop and do a new install and spend the rest of the day personalising it? Also, what is the difference between 5.7 and 5.8 or 5.8 lite? Ta.

I would prefer 5.9 over 5.7, however you can dd out the entire drive and restore it. Funny, I made a 256GB file to allow me to restore a server drive. You will have to expand the drive to get the full effect. Sorry, Ultimate Edition 5.9 is not available yet.

Thanks for your reply.
How long until 5.9 will be ready or should I just go ahead and install 5.7?
Cheers.

I do know you guys want 5.9. I am running it and absolutely love it. I have had a few bumps I have to iron out. I have new hardware in route. I am done with 5.9 until that hardware arrives. There is nothing wrong with 5.7. I suggest running it until I can address issues. I did upload 6.1 today, a alpha. I highly suggest avoiding it. It is not production stable.

Considering the destination drive will be smaller that original drive, ie, dd ing from a 500gb hd to a 120gb SSD would I need to shrink the original partition to something that will fit the SSD first?
