Ultimate Edition 2.9
by TheeMahn on Mar.15, 2011, under Ultimate Edition
Release INFO: I hope you did not think I forgot about you KDE users. Tons of testing and 0 negative feedback. I did try and sneak one over and release it to forum users first. Grab it before distrowatch.com becomes keen to the situation 😉
Please feel free to comment was it worth the wait?
Enjoy,
TheeMahn

Hello TheeMahn, Your work is ALWAYS worth the wait! I can not begin to tell you how many hours I have enjoyed your distros through the different releases. I have all the iso’s backed up since 1.9. What is more important to me right now is that I hope things are heading in a more positive direction for you and your girlfriend as you fight this battle together. I know there are many who are praying and wishing for a recovery of health and thanks for caring about “The Work” and us as you struggle with your own dilemas! Take care and share a report when you feel you can.

They have already snatched it up (distrowatch I refer to), I promise I had nothing to do with. Thank you for your kind words. I have been under the assumption My woman would be freed from the hospital on Monday, has not rang true. I hear tomorrow, now I question even that. Why do doctors do that? Do not get my hopes up.

Sorry my mind is not 100% on the O/S. Please forgive me.

How do I upgrade from the previous version, be it gamers or whatever? How would you compare gamers to supreme supergamer…lol? Thanks!
March 16th, 2011 on 5:44 pm
Supreme Gamer contains non gpl as well as commercial games and thus what the guy is doing is illegal. Upgrading is possible, I have as well as an admin it is not to be taken lightly & is recommended to install the full version.

Great work!
I have been using vanilla Ubuntu for years and just now found your excellent distro.
Hate to ask but how long does it usually take for you to get to the new release? Since next month is 11.04 and I will be wanting to try it the day it drops.

Depends, I have already built an alpha of Ultimate Edition 3.0. Everything went through smooth started it this Friday, done Friday. Ultimate Edition 2.9 did not play fair & much more was involved in purging and re-building kernels. Actually the faster I smash the build process the less work involved on my end. Sometimes this is not an option for example in the build process of any odd number based release. So to answer the question it varies. I intend to mass mail those that are members here as I did for those that opt for it when we release it. To be honest I want to put that magical touch in UE 3.0, which means I intend to take a little extra time to ensure it is all of that and a bag of chips. Sorry, I could not give a more forward answer.

Hey I installed the new version. From my point of view it runs better that 2.8 with a big pack of software, but in the next version skype have to be installed because near to everybody use this software.
Good work 😉

I would love to, however their license agreement in the use of: "You a limited, personal, non-commercial, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable, non-assignable, free of charge license to download, install and use the Skype Software on Your computer." Section 2 of their End user license agreement. An extremely Grey area using the word YOU.

Superb! I tried it this weekend. Thanks for this 2.9 release. 🙂
A snag though, is there’s no LXDE and Openbox in the desktop environments (is this correct?). I was hoping to use it on my old PC.
Nice default theme also… Great job theemahn et.al. 😉

Just downloaded & installed 2.9 last nigh. First I’ve heard of Ultimate Edition… I’m VERY impressed!
This leaves both Mint & Pinguy in the dust!

I have just logged on after a long time. I have been running 2.8. I have used UE exclusively at home from your earliest versions. I not commenting on the merits of UE. I am a cancer survivor and i now the value of having those around you stop every thing to take care of you. Keep up the good work. I will keep downloading UE as long as you produce it.

А в чём может быть проблема? При установке Ultimate Edition 2.9 (64 bit) в место установщика и полноценных окон показывает размытые пиксели, примерно как на картинке http://lanbin.ru/images/kpk.png

glad 2 c u r back on yr feet theemahn. dono if this is good or bad. i am running 2.8 on a (rather) old ibm thinkpad R51. It’s a Pentium 4 1.6Ghz. I tried to install 2.9 today, received a message that i didn’t fulfill the prerequsites, apparently there are some features that P4 does not have. while i’m really thankful that the OS tells me before-hand that i will not b able to install 2.9, i’m jus wondering if there is any reason why i am not allowed to install 2.9 on a P4 since i’m not facing a performance problem now?
