Well…my first download was a dud. ???…The bytes were right..but the mdssum was wrong…i dont know. Im downloading again. I cannot complain. And now Bill Gates is forcing everyone to buy Windows 7. No more support for XP…and Vista.
You think he would have left Vista a while longer. XP has been running for a long time now. My theory is..people are not buying 7 …and keeping their existing OS. As long as ones keep the old…ones will not purchase 7. Microsoft is forcing ones to buy it. Im so glad i changed over to Linux. I have XP..on my older machine..and Vista on backup disks..so much for it now.
🙁

I seen that coming and feel sorry for existing users of that “Other O/S”. I believe August is the actual month of the death of XP. I just checked you are right 14/04/2009, probably one of if not their best O/S. Let’s force them to buy a new one, all about the Benjamin’s. Sad.

I do not suggest everyone to do so, but we have our own ISO server.

Really fantastic….but….as I am a Windows Man and did not get it how to work with Linux, I am wondering how I get upgraded my Ultimate 2.6 to 2.7
Really, I surfed the evening for hours but did nog get any normal answer from someone how to get my 2.6 as a 2.7!
You?
June 9th, 2010 on 5:59 pm
I had the same trouble, so I did a fresh install…but either way, 2.7 or 2.6…you can’t go wrong, the updates will keep you on top of it all.
June 7th, 2010 on 2:17 pm
Is this the way to do it? Just install through boot from dvd as a freshinstall?

Yes, fairly straight forward

I’ve been using Ultimate Edition for about 2 years now. Since the release of 2.6, “that other O/S”, seems a tad bit obsolete to say the least. I introduce a computer tech. friend of mine to Ultimate Edition 2.6 about 3wks ago. Needless to say, windows has become a “pain” of the past for him as well. He was simply amazed that such a well crafted, software packed O/S was available for download the whole time he was going through his Vista ordeal! He’s an UE fan now……
TheeMahn…… you’re “The Man” Thankx for all your hard work!

Doing some PR for ya on my twitter….

hey man, could you put the ISO in torrent too?, so i can pause and resume the download when needed. i can’t do this in normal download. first, my speed only 1Mbps, second, if i pause too long, i need restart the download… i can’t just sit beauty waiting for 2,7 GB…
Thanks

Hi TheeMahn,
Thanks for all your dedicated hard work.
Can you tell me if this version or any previous ones have the ability to fully sync with Win Mob 6.1 devices – calendar, contacts, music etc
June 15th, 2010 on 12:37 pm
There are tools in the repository for mobile devices:
sudo apt-get install multisync-tools opensync-plugin-evolution opensync-plugin-synce

Are there any tools to run magic jack in wine or a command to install it?
June 23rd, 2010 on 4:13 am
About a year ago, I had considered writing a Linux “driver” for it, just never have had the time. I have yet to read a post on how to get it to work under nix. I had briefly looked into it and appears that there would not have to be a ton written to make it happen. Outputs native to dmesg. Hardly a solid solution, however a step in the right direction can be found here.

I had no problem with the download. I had a problem installing 2.6 so I burnt this at the slowest speed and had no problem. I’ve been spending the last 6 months trying to find a replacement for that other overrated operating system. When I ran upon this version of Ultimate I just had to try it. Leave it the way it is. This works really well with jack, rosegarden, jamin, and audacity (my studio). And the new theme is awesome. It’s a hit. Keep up the good work !!!!!

Thanks guy, I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

Hello TheeMahn,
Let me tell you, I’ve been using ultimate edition since 2.3 and in this short time, I’ve become a fan of it. But when i tried booting UE 2.7 from a pen drive, it stopped on the splash screen. i tried booting on safe graphics mode where i got a message authentication failure. No clue as to what the problem is. I’m dual booting ‘the other os’ and ubuntu 10.04.
Thanks for your releases so far.
