I have been humbled…

by on Jul.19, 2010, under Linux, Ubuntu, Ultimate Edition

I have had people hammer me for being human. I should only post Ultimate Edition related material here or thus I have been told. I will not get into the details. Last time I checked this is my blog. Please allow me to backpedal and correct myself, who makes UE? This is my website w/o admin / testers we would be nothing, the same goes in hand the end user. This is where the humbling comes in place. Mr. Breeg and I went to a concert in Detroit Michigan this weekend, Clarkston to be 100% correct, an Iron Maiden concert. I physically got to see 11,000 people at one time, an eye awaking experience to me. We see greater then twice that everyday here, I am using the lowest number possible called “Uniques”, I was a Unique. I have never seen Iron Maiden prior.

Physically seeing 11,000 people has really changed the way I feel, you may think I am blowing smoke. I am out for your best interest, but do not possess the time to make all users happy & perhaps bothers me more then seeing 11,000 people. Most like to brag and say I seen 4 million hits last month, I am now the opposite. Thanks most of all to you & Mr. Breeg for opening my eyes. I live in front of a computer.

I am your humble servant.

TheeMahn,

    Hey TheeMahn,
Your work on Ultimate Edition is Super-Awesome. Those people that leave dumb insults are just as ignorant as their insults are. The people that leave dumb insults are usually (98% of the time) the percentage of society that are computer illiterate, and they think that their dvd drive is a dane cup holder.
Your work on Ultimate Edition surpasses anything that Ubuntu Developers could even dream of doing. Thanks for all of the hard work that you have put into Ultimate Edition. I use Ultimate Edition every day. My computer runs best on Ultimate Edition 2.3 because it has a Pentium 4 processor.
Have an awesome day. You are a genius.

Hi TheeMahn you have my respect and I agree with you about this point. The things grow more than we prepared to go with. Any way the people have to understand that you maintain the focus.
Serve the idea, vanguard is more important.
    Go ahead man!!

Thee Mahnn…as i mentioned when I wrote the comment. i know its your blog…your site…and all yours. I said your are great…and a terrific guy. I told you are a Genius..I just was not expecting it. And about the Alpha…its just me…its just reasoning. I tell alot of people the same thing…about UE…and I always say “these dudes are Genius`s..and you should be using it. Most dont even know what Linux is. And I also try to get people to come on the forum. Im just a different sort. I mean no harm. Please….forget about it…I probably was frustrated with something…and i say “overstand” because I dont like to be under anything…keep doing what you are doing. Yes there are alot of people on this Earth. The one thing i am sorry for is I cannot donate..I would have…I am barley getting by.When I am able ..I will donate. Perhaps you can have a nice outdoor scene…looking out a window on your desktop…so you can see out side …try to get out more…but Im not telling what to do..Im glad to know you ..or at least your works…and your words…143..Thank you

What the hell is Ultimate Edition anyhow ??
    *******************************************
You use it nearly everyday, yet you probably didn’t think twice about purchasing it. It controls most of your work, yet you didn’t think you had a choice when you hired it as your personal manager. What is it? Your secretary?

No, its your operating system. The most important part of the computer experience, your operating system serves as the base of everything you do on your PC. When you purchased your car, you went through extensive research and bargaining. So why not do the same for your OS, which you spend a lot of your day using?

Chances are you’re running a version of Microsoft Windows, probably XP or Vista. These are great products that open the doors to many great PC capabilities. But what if there was another choice that truly offered the same or better performance in all five key areas: speed, safety, appearance, compatibility, and user friendliness?

That choice is here today: Ultimate Edition, with a price tag of $0. Thanks to the power of open source software, what once was a basement hacker’s operating system of choice is now being used on thousands of desktops and allowing users to do things they never thought possible. Based on the renowned Linux operating system, Ultimate Edition offers unparalleled levels of speed, safety, appearance, compatibility, and user friendliness.

    Speed

How many times do you find yourself reaching for a cup of coffee after powering on your PC? This lengthily process doesn’t have to waste your time. Bootup times of over a minute are commonplace in Windows, yet are unheard of with Ultimate Edition. Our test system consistently boots up in under 20 seconds. With this time savings, you can get more work done with less waiting.

But it doesn’t stop there. Once you are logged in, the desktop is ready to use immediately. No more waiting for icons to load. And each application loads instantly. You don’t need a supercomputer for blazing speed–you just need a super OS!

    Safety

Viruses, spyware, trojan horses! These phrases are known by almost every computer user–and have fostered a multi-million dollar software industry just to protect PCs running Microsoft Windows. Not only do security suites add to the cost of your PC, they also detract further from the performance of your computer.

But with Ultimate Edition, antivirus software is a thing of the past! Since there are virtually no security threats in the wild for the Linux kernel, your PC is safe and sound with just the preinstalled firewall. No extra security software is needed.

While phishing threats (fraudulent attempts to obtain your personal information) can affect any user on any platform, Mozilla Firefox protects you from these risks and at the same time giving you a faster, more dynamic browsing experience just as it does on the Windows platform.

    Appearance

Everyone loves eye candy, especially in video games. But what if you could have cool 3D effects on your desktop that actually helped you get work done? We’re not talking about Windows Flip-3D folks: that is child’s play compared to what is offered with Ultimate Edition.

Not only can you easily switch between running programs with ease–you can have multiple desktops, or workspaces, each geared toward a certain activity. For instance, you might run a web browser and word processor in one, while running a media player in another, while your camera downloads photos in a third desktop. Best yet, you can switch between these dynamic workspaces in a variety of cool ways: a 3D cube, fluid panel layout, or a simple key combination allow you to multitask. And you can simply drag and drop windows between your workspaces to get everything set just as you like.

Polished appearance isn’t just for multitasking. Ultimate Edition offers a level of refinement and personalization unheard of on other platforms. You can customize window borders, task bars, application docks and more from dozens of preinstalled themes with the click of a mouse. Your PC can be truly yours–not the way some programmer in Washington thought it should be.

    Compatibility

All this sounds good and dandy. But wait, if it can’t run your most important applications, what good is it? Ultimate Edition to the rescue! Not only can you choose from hundreds (yes, hundreds) of preinstalled applications for everything from syncing your iPod to burning CDs to building websites, you can run all of your favorite Windows applications just as you did in XP or Vista.

Thanks to Wine, the Windows Emulator found preinstalled with Ultimate Edition, your favorite Windows programs-Word, Excel, Photoshop, and a plethora of games–are just a click away. Download a Windows program or insert the install CD-Wine does the rest. And surprisingly, Windows programs run just as fast in Ultimate Edition as they do in XP or Vista, thanks to the thin, streamlined Linux kernel. You can see the applications usable with wine at appdb.winehq.org.

Programs are great, but what about your hardware. Will your camera, PDA, and printer all work with Ultimate? The answer is a resounding yes–and you won’t have to do a thing! Thanks to the fabulous work of Ultimate Edition developers, drivers are preinstalled for almost every piece of hard ware you can imagine. On our test system, our TV Tuner, wireless card, printers, digital camera, and more all worked from the moment we plugged them in. No more searching for driver disks in the messy depths of your file cabinet.

    User Friendliness

Everyone talks about it, but what truly makes a product user friendly? To us, it means that a product is easy to learn, makes sense, and that you can easily obtain assistance if you can’t figure something out. Ultimate Edition fulfils all of these requirements.

Look at the screenshots– essentially, your Ultimate Edition desktop looks much like the one you’re using right now. The same point and click icons, menus, and search boxes that you’re used to will make it easy to adapt to the benefits of Ultimate. And if you don’t like something the way it is, change it! There are dozens of different menus, taskbars, sidebars, and docks to choose from to make it easy to use your computer.

And if you can’t figure something out, Ultimate Edition forums are available to answer all of your questions. Located at http://www.forumubuntusoftware.info & now on our very own Australian forum, as well as at the Israeli site the fabulous community of Ultimate Edition developers and users will make you feel welcome and help you to quickly answer your questions–and learn something new while your at it.

Speed, safety, appearance, compatibility, and user friendliness–Ultimate Edition covers them all. Whether you’re looking for something new to try, or if you’re serious about getting more work done, faster and easier than ever, then don’t hesitate to download and install Ultimate Edition. You can easily try it without installing–and once you make the decision, you can use it while your installing (wouldn’t you like to watch TV while your new operating system loads?). And don’t worry–you can keep Windows on your system too. Ultimate installs a nice boot menu where you can select whether you would like to start your PC in Ultimate Edition or Windows.

If you’re in the market for a new PC, why not get Ultimate Edition preinstalled alongside (or instead of) Windows?

With this powerful combination of great features, reliability, speed, and ease of use, Ultimate Edition truly offers something no other operating system does.

And with a price tag of $0, how can you say no?

    Thanks TheeMahn (-;

I don’t want to plagiarise your post, but I would like to drop a post saying the same giving you credit of course. It is quite a concept & a new way of looking at things. I never have thought of it in that fashion. How about like a FAQ for main in the section what is Ultimate Edition? I would like to put MD5SUM and burning tips as well. Better yet, copy and paste to about page? It has an outdated link to wiki anyways. They have changed Wiki a ton and are trying to conglomerate all linux based O/S’s. I liked it better when each had their own page.

  • Blackwolf

Thanks for the kudos, TheeMahn. It’s on the forum already….http://forumubuntusoftware.info/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4942…..feel free to plagiarise to your hearts content.

  • grommit

I always think that UE is Ubuntu with 24″ chrome alloys, big stereo, blacked out windows and…well you get the idea. 🙂

    Keep up the good work.

  • mj8741

I really like Ultimate Edition. Since I’ve become disabled and don’t get to work anymore, I’m on the computer a lot. I really appreciate your work on the Ultimate project. Having the Ultimate OS really helps me because it provides the software I like and use all the time. Plus, all my hardware is supported, not like some other Linux versions. I can’t afford to purchase expensive versions of Windows and they are too limiting anyway.
I can’t understand why anyone would criticize your work or your blog. After all – it’s yours!
Please just keep up the good work – We appreciate it!

    • TheeMahn

I am not here for the money, what I provide is free. I too sometimes can not understand, I am here for the people. I have paid for out of pocket 11 websites to provide their content, I hate to think the countless hours I have put into it. It also upsets me when someone tells me things like that. I do try and work for the people, I am fully aware you can make some people happy, never all.

      • godzfavoriteangel

your words are the recent restore of my faith that people still exist in this world that do stuff like this for pure, real reasons. thank you. your words “I am not here for the money” fire me up. People are getting ripped a new one 33 ways from last week and they have no idea. no american company, or any product sold in the u.s. should have the right to do that. thank you again, your work is not vain.

  • MorbiousStone

It is an amazing experience, sometimes bewildering and sometimes more often than not awesome!!!! the music, the people 11,000 to over 100,000 concerts events etc you should do it as much as possible Thanks for all your work

    Theemahn,

So many idiots do not realize, or more importantly, recognize, appreciate, understand, pay homage to, respect, shall I go on, to the contribution which entails your resources. Personally, I respect and deeply admire the piece of art you have created ! Picasso is trembling !!! For the people…amen brother! All I can say is, “thank you!”.

  • jjthomas

Wow! Well, it is your blog and yours to do with as you please. I used to run several forums and finaly quit, got tired of all the kiddies whining about what I do and how do it. I’m not a big Iron Maiden fan, but I am glad you enjoyed the concert. Been to a few and except for the Rolling Stones at the Kingdome (acoustics suck), I always had a rocking good time.

I am just trying out Ultimate Edition. I don’t know if I will be come a lifetime user, or not. Either way I appreciate what you have done. Thank you.

Thank you Martin, 11,000 is old news. We grow daily the lowest we have seen this month 39,221 uniques on 03/03, peak 144,621 pageviews on 03/17 about the time Ultimate Edition 2.9 was dropped just this site. 😉 I guess it would be fairly straight forward to say our traffic has tripled since the original post was written. Thank you for your kind comments.

I stumbled across this site a few months ago. I have been using Ubuntu for about 2 years and took a leap of faith with Ultimate Edition. Loved it from the moment I heard the boot up music. I feel like I went from driving a good dependable car (Ubuntu) to a fully loaded Lamborghini! Thank you and well done.

I am sorry for your family health issues. I visit your site often and am amazed at the work you do. If there is anyone complaining about how long perfection take then f— them!!!

We are a small OEM in NJ and we build systems for consultants and tech support people

We have found that go to meeting isn’t enough for most of our techies so we build some systems that have up to 83 os’s on them so the support people can actually help there clients by learning more about the OS’s

We always receive an “OH MY GOD!” from clients when they see Ultimate and therefore include it in all of our systems not only for the beauty of it all but to repair windows and hacked mac virtual machines

As soon as these MAC user see your disto they throw rocks at their mac.

I have nothing more that thanks for you guys and the millions of people who contribute to open-source

From on tester to another…..I love your work and I have been humbled!

    Thanks again,
