Clarification

Allow me to clarify the situation with this official announcement Ultimate Edition 3.0 is now beta. The testing team has it and is hard at work making sure that we have a solid stable release coming. Many of you have been with us for awhile now realize that Theemahn post problems and information here to keep you the end-user in the loop. Until now most of his frustration rants have been confined to the forums, you now see why. Thee has stated in a past interview on Souceforge that Ultimate Edition would be on a when it is done it gets released type of schedule.
So 3.0 will be ready once the testers have given it a green light and we are all sure the stability you all know and love is there. Changes are afoot and more information will be released as details are finalized. So what can you the end-user take from all this 1. Thee has not quit. 2. Ultimate Edition is not done by a long shot. and finally point 3. Even Theemahn has his limits and needs to blow off steam. I almost forgot a important point , this is to the Facebook crowd, 3.0 is not a myth follow the forums for screenshots from our testers.

Dear Meister,
Should your post be in response to mine expressing my respect and appreciation for all Thee’s work and thoroughness, let me say that is in the greatest gratitude i wrote what I did. I am by no means a programmer, (and it remains a ‘dark art’ to me, as I was a USN main propulsion tech). I have however, seen quality work before, and it takes something of UE’s caliber to gain my High Opinion of the work y’all do. The care and attention to detail is of the highest order, and has my top-of-the line regards. I was Not trying to hurry him, or any of you.I’m certain all of you have personal lives, and in his case deep personal tragedies. Thee, I sympathize with you, and regret your loss. My father died of cancer.and to this day, I miss him. ’78 was a long time ago
I appreciate again the top-notch work y’all do. That y’all won’t release your work until it passes your standards speaks well of you.I show 0509, as I type this, so imma dive in my rack…take the time you folks need, I have no thought of pressuring you.

By no means was this a response to your post. After reading the 14 responses and numerous facebook post it seemed some clarification was in order. As well as some good news that 3.0 was released to the beta testers. Not to mention it seemed to me the impression was that Ultimate Edition was finished, which is far from the truth. It is refreshing to Thee and the Team that our users care so much, it makes the long nights and hair loss worth it when we do finish. At the end of the day we do this for you the end-user and it is US that are thankful for the support and faith in our little Distro.

I too was a squid in the Navy 😉 I was an aviation structural mechanic hydraulics & worked on F-14D Tomcats during the Desert Storm / Operation provide comfort era.
This I want to grab you of all people, when I was in the Navy I consistently received 3.9 evaluations. Why not 4.0? I lack attention to detail seen it with every evaluation. This is why we have 50 admin / mods to find my faults no matter how insignificant they may seem. I also want to be forthcoming in saying I have in the past deliberately let issues such as Grammatical slide through. A non-showstopper, but none the less does get under my skin. Ultimately, saving weeks in progression.
Sometimes you have to draw a line. I enjoyed the rack perhaps I should hit the head. A journey to the scuttlebutt? Priceless words. What propulsion system did you work on a Carrier?

As a long standing user and supporter of UE i sit back and laugh (and cringe with frustration) at all the immature, impatient and ungrateful new users who expect a OS to fall into their laps at their whim regardless of their extreme lack of knowledge on the subject. UE Team just continue on with what your doing and know that your true supporters are sitting back and letting the good times roll! We know 3.0 will come when its ready! Thanks to you fellas as always!!

Ultimate Edition has been my favorite “toy” and work machine for awhile now and I must admit it saddened me to think your
run might end. As others have so clearly noted this distro is
everything you could ask for and more! It is always way more
important to think of people as above things. I am glad to know
that Thee has the support and care of Meister and all those I
do not know. I hope that success and happiness come to all of
you who work so hard and come up with such AMAZING results. I
guess what I would like to say is to take care of your selves
as you work so hard to take care of us! I also like the way
Thee just”Lays it all out there”. It can bring mixed results or responses, but the honesty is fantastic! Just wish us folks could be more objective as we respond to others.

I’m from Brazil and I never saw Distro … as the Ultimate Edition is the image of Linux in the world … the meaning of what is missing in Ubuntu … without the Ultimate .. would be very difficult to imagine the ultimate Gnome 3 custom?
