Sourceforge & IRC
by TheeMahn on Jun.23, 2010, under Hosting, Linux, Ultimate Edition
Sourceforge has interviewed me and dropped a post on their blogs homepage. Thanks, Lee Schlesinger & Sourceforge.
I have had many suggestions for setting Ultimate Edition on IRC. That said…
IRC or Internet Relay Chat has been around for years, actually around before instant messaging services. This has been set up as an option to get instant answers. Who will be there to help you?
Who knows. It will depend on what time of day it is. At first the amount of users will be low. Users are encouraged to help other users. I as well as other Admin can not be there 24 / 7. Do we promise to answer everything? No. We certainly can’t do that – though we will try. In most cases you will be redirected to a possible solution. You can just watch or “idle”, but if you participate, help please don’t hinder the work going on there.
I have been trying to hold off on this post. We may soon have our own IRC network. Before I commit resources, I would like to see if it is worth investing the time & money. This will allow you to chat with Ultimate Edition devs & other UE users. We may not stay here, but I want to give all users the chance to see what it is all about. I am providing 2 options to get there, KVirc is an IRC client built into virtually all Ultimate Editions. You are not limited to using just KVirc, there is Xchat, and many others. Mirc for you windows users. If you wish to learn about IRC, information overkill can be read here. Specific Information on freenode here.
Option #1:
Open your terminal (Applications >> Accessories >> Terminal) & paste the following.
kvirc irc://irc.freenode.org/UltimateEdition
Option #2:
Web based chat.
Hopefully by Ultimate Edition’s 2.8 final release it will be defaulted, preset & fully customized UE style. I hope to catch you on there.
TheeMahn,
Welcome aboard Beta Testers !!!

Ultimate Edition 2.8? How? It has been discussed and is now a reality, This is not for the everyday user. You can read more about it here.
Enjoy, TheeMahn
Open Testing?
by TheeMahn on Jun.14, 2010, under Linux, Themes, Ubuntu, Ultimate Edition
Open beta testing is being run by admin & mods. I want everyone to know should this happen, you can expect problems as with any alpha / beta release. In the past we have only released stable releases. I have already uploaded a alpha 1 of Ultimate Edition 2.8 x64 (built off Ubuntu Maverick Meercat 10.10), it will be released to admin, mods and beta testers later today. If it is decided to open the flood gates, I will come back and drop another post expect a few days maybe a week (still have to build x86 and upload it). How about a sneak peak…
Screenshots:
The theme etc. is not set in stone. What do you guys think of the idea, any comments good or bad are appreciated.

Ultimate Edition 2.7

Yes, it has been released. I suggest you grab it before Distrowatch picks up on it π
Enjoy,

Lets just roll…
by TheeMahn on Jun.01, 2010, under Ultimate Edition
I have squashed the issues with the forum, I have moved on and Ultimate Edition 2.7 final is uploading. I still have to build the x64 edition. Knowing what I know now, no real issue. I would like to say this openly please do not attempt to hack my website to get your hands on what I refer to. I do not want to point fingers, but this has happened. I have screenshots of such actions. Patience is a virtue. You now know it is coming. I do not need to deal with any extra issues, like I said just roll with me. We had 3 million+ pageviews last month just this site, how many are hackers? We have 9 websites, guess who maintains them. By doing so the only thing you accomplish is slowing me down. Wouldn’t you like to see Ultimate Edition 2.8? You do know a PS/3 edition is just around the corner and will demand my attention.
TheeMahn,
Oops, this is embarassing ;)

It gets the best of us, currently our forum is witnessing technical difficulties. Seems to be Mysql or a PHP based issue. I have began addressing the issue personally. I would much rather be building Ultimate Edition 2.7. I would at the same time like to thank you donors & ensure it has 0 to do with hosting issues, I have used the money to pay for domains, hosting and hardware as promised. This will be the be the fourth time I have had to stop doing my job to fix other issues not related to me. I have been gone for four days painting my fathers house and would not have even realized the issue is there without JohnnyG having me on speed dial π
On a lighter note. We have been quite successful in moving our way up the chain. I have made a few adjustments that will ensure our success, but won’t comment on. We have good people in house, does anything else matter? Please try and be patient with me just backing up the entire forum prior to trying to fix issues is a heavy undertaking.
Work with me please,
TheeMahn
Gamers
by TheeMahn on May.23, 2010, under Gamers, Linux, Ubuntu, Ultimate Edition
We have released a Gamers edition in the past, we now have Ultimate Edition 2.6 Gamers and a page for the releases. Bnjamin_breeg built them both x86 & x64, you can read more about that on the page.
I hope to catch you on our gaming server, for a little Urban Terror beat down π
Ultimate Edition 2.7 it will be some time before you see a release. I still have a few bugs to squash.
Ultimate Edition 2.7 Already?
by TheeMahn on May.07, 2010, under Ultimate Edition
Ultimate Edition 2.7 already? Well no, but don’t think we are slacking. The release of Ultimate Edition 2.6 has shattered previous monthly download records in days.
Nothing wrong with a little sneak peak right? Sorry the screen appears so wide I run dual monitors. The left side is Ultimate Edition 2.7 installing in a virtual machine. The right side is my desktop. Yes, I have installed it just working out a few kinks.
No, I am not going to give a deadline for it’s release. Just know it is coming. We have also added a page for donors. Get your name on the list before 2.7 is released π
TheeMahn,
Short and to the point…
by TheeMahn on Mar.11, 2010, under Linux, Themes, Ubuntu, Ultimate Edition
I thought I would shed a bit of the wealth and info on what is coming…
Youtube HQ
Released to Admin / mods & beta testers today (The theme is what I refer to, Ultimate Edition 2.6 alpha was released sometime ago), sorry I can not show you the Plymouth boot splash, I need a slower comp π I will provide the theme as well as source when finished. A lucid with normal buttons? I seen all the complaints of what they attempt to do. This time I will step in.
Bug (look at the comments) & my theme (min, max etc on the left)?
Bug I think not as launchpad says it, will change when I am done. I have seen a ton of ppl complaining, they call it a feature π Don’t get me started with XSplash. Last time I checked I am not running a mac; linux users? You do not know how many times I have clicked trying to minimize or close a window only to find it maximized. They do not care how many do the same. I will rectify the situation. Things can get progressively worse. This is currently a hobby to me. Soon to be mainstay. Ask me the same 2 years from now. Certainly 100 programmers should excel above me.
TheeMahn,
