No, I am not dead.

Wow, what a turn of events. A job a good thing right? Been there 5 weeks 4 of which mandatory overtime including my first week there. Sure Friday no problem, get you there Friday tell you we need you Saturday as well. I am going to blow off a little steam. 4 ten hour days what I signed on for sure occasional overtime. 4 of 5 mandatory. Lets analise the situation 40 hours a regular week of work right? Sure I have it out of the way in 4 days. Does not my Friday become most ppls Saturday? Time and a half great O.K. Now we need you Saturday, my Sunday double time not a chance. Work you those kind of hours and not pay. 60 hrs a week, I am sure I have ample time to drop 3.0 When I have only one day to myself do you think I should make it a UE day?
Sorry like I said blowing off steam,
TheeMahn

Up until a month ago, I had been doing 60 hour weeks since the new year. I can identify with fatigue and the need to “Rest and Rejuvenate”! Enjoy it while you can because someone, somewhere is figuring out more ways to utter to you those dreaded words “Mandatory Overtime”.

Sir, you have every right to get free time to yourself.
Every person who uses UE for everything will realize that it is time consuming to create a product. Please take the time you need. There is absolutely no hurry and i repeat this again.
A year taken to create UE is very fair and more time thereon is justifiable but also keeping in mind that its a one man army.
thank you.

No problem TheeMahn. Everybody needs to blow off a little steam every now and then. I do know what you’re going through. We had a guy get hurt over three months ago. We’ve been splitting his shift ever since. But, after the first two months of 12 hour shifts and 6 day weeks, I had to get a little break. Besides the fact that my girlfriend, who is paranoid schizophrenic and bipolar, is getting worse. Some days I barely get any sleep. I’m past that age where lack of sleep goes unnoticed. I know some people get impatient or anxious. But, I do know everyone here truly appreciates all the hard work that you put into Ultimate Edition. I catch myself, sometimes wondering when 3.0 will be ready. Then I have to remind myself that “good things come to those who wait”. But, it does go to show ,that you have created something people are dying to get their hands on. But, for the most part, I can wait. I do hope you receive praise and gratitude from everyone here. I’ll stop my rambling. But, thanks again.

I really hate to say this, but I make 60 cents over minimum wage. I am trying to change that if I could just get a day off to look for a real job 😉
November 10th, 2011 on 1:49 pm
Believe me, minimum wage can sound pretty good,’specially when all you get is retired pay, but even $60.00 per can’t replace sleep….I must confess that I was starting to wonder, but the update will suffice. Take the time you and the team need. I don.t think you need to fret, a few lines will suffice, and a job well done is why they keep you.

Praise TheeMahn,
I know that people say that if it weren’t for the bad things we wouldn’t know how to appreciate the good but I have a different way of thinking about that today. I want to take out some time to thank God for all the good things that He’s sent into my life and blessed me with. Good things, good people, good food, good shelter, good sleep and most of all Good Ultimate Edition OS through Its Creator TheeMahn.
TheeMahn you are awesome, miraculous, great, fantabulous, da bomb, the best, huge, humongous, bright, beautiful, precious, first and foremost, Alpha and Omega. Thank you for all that you have done and for all that you are doing even without us knowing, to keep us interested and satisfied. Let us lift up TheeMahn who feels down at the moment and make him laugh when he is sad. For TheeMahn Equips us, the poor, to be rich in natural and supernatural ways.
Yes, I thank TheeMahn for Ultimate Edition and will continue to do so. This site is an avenue of blessings and praises to the needy and I will lift up my voice and praise TheeMahn whenever I can. I would rather spend my time, energy and money praising TheeMahn on this site than playing games, etc on any other. Ultimate Edition first, everything else last. I have my priorities in order. I like it that way.

Hey, since you haven’t got anything to do, how about working on UE 4.0? Sorry, Thee, but I just had to have a little fun with ya! 🙂
I know what you mean about work. I was told I could make my own hours, work part time if I wanted and call the shots on fixing up properties. Yeah, right. I have worked as many as 15 hours in a day and it’s dark when I leave the house in the morning and dark when I come home to a Missus of 26 years who gets irritated when her nice dinner she made for me is cold. The way I figure, I will take it while I can because in this lousy economy the money train could come to a halt tomorrow.
I am confident when you can find the time you will not disappoint anyone with UE 3.2 (3.0?). Keeping your sanity is much more important to us than working your Linux magic for your devotees. Just make sure the company doesn’t run you too hard because they will if they can get away with it. Take care my friend.

I, hungry for 3.0x goodness, attempted to recreate a simulacrum of UE using Ubuntu repos. Feh. I have gotten a certain amount of new knowledge about just how complicated a job that this is.
My friend, as delicadaz said, 2.9 just flies. I’ll stick to the distro I KNOW works. If we don’t see 3.0 bfore Spring, we’ll be all the happier about its release.
Rule #1 has always been “Don’t quit your day job.” I have a new understanding of your effort, and in order to do it right, you need time, which you have little of now. In other words, enjoy your weekends. All work and no play might make Thee Mann a little crispy around the edges.
In other words, I can have the patience of a dog, and dogs are patient.

Trust me TheeMahn, I know how you feel completely. I work anywhere from 8 – 20 hours a day, some times more depending on how many times I get called back into work. Plus I work 6 days a week, some times 7 because some people don’t know how to wait for things. LOL. So, the way I look at it is that when you have time off or to yourself, spend that time well on yourself. That is all that matters.
November 8th, 2011 on 12:06 am
No days off for you. And yes your only day off should be U.E. Day. Get to work and quit slacking. LOL, give me a shout.

Hey Thee,
I have been an admirer of your work for some time. I am one of the owners of HiPer Computers, a small computer shop in northern MI (USA). We have converted MANY people to Linux. ( Mint for the simple folks, and U.E. for the rest ) The people LOVE it. We should talk when you get a minute.
November 9th, 2011 on 12:54 pm
I am sure that old Uncle Sam (Obama) appreciates all your hard overtime work! That means he gets about half of your pay. Glad to see your alive and well.

TheeMahn,
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’m a busybody but take a look at the usajobs website (if you aren’t opposed to working for the federal govt.)
I haven’t worked in the private sector for so long that I really don’t know what’s out there but there are so many tech+ positions within the federal system that you are bound to find something. Dunno if you are a military vet or not but you don’t have to be. Someone with your knowledge would be an asset to any facility or company. (It’s not Linux though – sorry) Hope I don’t sound like an advertisement – just trying to help (and assuming you live in the US). Good luck!

Oops, forgot to tell you what a great job you’ve done with UE! Thanks.

Life happens and we all have to live with it. You are providing an A #1 class product for free, to anyone who wishes to use it. I don’t think anyone who has been using U.E. for any length of time would be a big enough jerk to deny you the personal time and rest you need to keep it together and recuperate from a hard weeks work. If you never put out another edition of U.E., no-one would have a right to complain. Of course we all hope you do eventually, but if you don’t then that should be, though disappointing, alright with us as well. I think I can safely speak for the large majority of us when I say, “We thank you for all that you have already done and though we all look forward to future versions of U.E., we understand it isn’t and can’t be your first priority. Do what you gotta do. We’ll still be around when and if you get around to another release. Thanks.
