I really love 2.9 with ubuntu 10.10. When 3.0 comes out how do I upgrade to 3.0 without getting the 11.04 from ubuntu. I hate unity.
June 29th, 2011 on 11:34 am
Agreed. Ubuntu 11.04 works well on my Sony but your 3.0 version is sweet. Let us know when we can take it for a test drive. You are TheeMahn!!

Looks awesome Thee! Thanks for the update buddy. Just wondering though, I know you’re not a Unity Mahn, but will it be integrated into 3.0?
May 12th, 2011 on 2:23 pm
Yes, but I am pushing for gnome to be the default.
May 14th, 2011 on 4:57 am
At least!
It is a long awaited post from you now. I was waiting for it apprehensively. Nice to see on the front that you are keeping up the good work. Indeed it is going and going to be better.
Can you point me with a direct link where to take suggestions for a nice green theme and a multi desktop manager boot menu. B-)
Welcome back!
Can’t wait to have experience the ue3 feeling! 😉
Best Wishes!

This is GREAT. I can’t wait to put 3.0 on this Sony laptop. It likes your releases but not a lot of others. You rule. When will it be available?
May 12th, 2011 on 6:11 am
Hello TheeMahn,
UE 3.0 preview looks great.
Please add the KPPP or/and GnomePPP to final release.
BTW, TVTime in UE 2.9 could not play any sound. It looks like due to Pulse Audio. Can you fix it in 3.0?
Good luck!
May 12th, 2011 on 7:45 am
Mate, that looks absolutely AWESOME..
cant wait to get my hands on it
the following clip on compiz is pretty neat to, Don’t suppose you could write a little howto setup and USE compiz.
Cube and fire writing, rain and snow are the final tipping point on getting people to leave windoZe…money and viruses are the first factor, but 3D effects really get em.
congrats on another excellent looking OS
May 18th, 2011 on 1:12 pm
true, got tired of viruses and expensive software, but I wouldn’t be interested in Linux if I haven’t come across Ultimate Edition. I’m still new and learning but it is awesome! I wan’t 3.0!
May 12th, 2011 on 10:00 am

May 12th, 2011 on 4:15 pm

May 22nd, 2011 on 12:38 am
No, actually it was tested via admin & proposed issues is to build compiz++, nothing to do with Gnome.
June 13th, 2011 on 3:22 am
Compiz would be awesome! Can’t wait to try it. Keep up the good work:)

Hi Im new to this and slowley getting into Ubuntu UE/Linux and loving it, but i have installed Ubuntu UE 2.8 Dual boot with win 7 and i would of liked to of upgraded to 2.9,but apperentley it can not be done without fully install it is this the case?
So i am basically wondering if there is a way of upgrading UE 2.8 to 2.9 without having to do a full Intsall because i would really like to upgrade to UE 3.0 when it comes out.
Thanks
Keep up the good work

Hello,I wonder why the 2.9 version is much more bigger than the 2.8 version. Are there more desktops??Is there anybody who need KDE or XFCE?
I hope that the 3.0 version will not be so big anymore and I think gnome is enough.
By the way..I heard that the 11.04 is very buggy..is it a wrong idea to keep the ubuntu 10.04 version as the next Ultimate 3.0 realease?
It is only my proposition until Cannotical will remove the bugs.
PEACE!!
May 22nd, 2011 on 12:35 am
2.9 has KDE as well so yes much larger. click logout and select kubuntu at the bottom.

May 23rd, 2011 on 4:33 am
Will be great to see ultimate edition with only one desktop environment and with many apps.
May 23rd, 2011 on 10:16 pm
Have been using ultimate edition for almost a year.
There are some excellent linux distros out there but clearly nothing like this one. I have been using linux for almost 10 years and bsd for 6. The only reason to use windows and Mac is for games like call of duty and install linux on mac hardware respectively. Almost most of the older games like doom3 and enemy territory run flawlessly in UE. Most people i know have been influenced by me and use it too. You and the people involved have done an excellent job unparalleled in every way.
If people really knew what this is there would be no reason to make software for other platforms.
I’m waiting for u to release UE 3.0.
May 23rd, 2011 on 10:26 pm
On earlier versions of UE i had installed the Macbuntu package with docky to add more appeal and eyecandy. But there is no need for this now. Linux’s looks and fonting system has improved radically along with your work and the needed different desktop environments that you have incorporated transcends everything. The desktop segment has finally matured with UE .

I hope every day gets better for you after your great loss and from experience it is better to concentrate your frustrations on projects and tasks Keep up the great work Ive enjoyed all since i discovered the ultimate edition.2.9,2.8,2.7,2.6, couldent ask for a more productive computer.Thanx Xxjoker21xX

No Need to ASK when IT WILL BE DONE IT WILL GREAT>
May 29th, 2011 on 7:01 pm
This is looking a lot better than 2.9. It is good to know that someone is not using unity and still cares about really awesome graphics. Unity is what led me to install 2.9 as opposed to the normal ubuntu, and i hope that unity or something like it does not become a part of this.
June 7th, 2011 on 1:16 pm
Red Barron, I agree that Ubuntu’s Unity is sub-par. I was impatient and tried Mint 11, PinGuy, Ubuntu 11.04 and was very disappointed in all of them. UE has all the eye candy you could ever want, all the apps any geek could ever play with and it isn’t buggy. I am hoping UE 3.0 comes with Libre Office instead of Open Office.
June 8th, 2011 on 11:21 pm

June 27th, 2011 on 12:09 pm
Glad to have you back TheeMan, looks like 3.0 is shaping up to be a beast. Can’t wait to get my linux back, I don’t want to use anything else but Ultimate :).
June 29th, 2011 on 8:01 am
still i can not download 2.9 becouse its not in torrent
July 5th, 2011 on 3:52 am
Could you say approximately when will be ready?
July 9th, 2011 on 8:22 am
Looking good. I have had a bad experience with Ubuntu 11.04. When I installed it on my multi-boot system, it basically messed it up and both Windows and Ubuntu didn’t work properly at all. I am still using Ultimate 2.9 and loving it, not sure if I’m ready to give it up yet. Although It would be nice to see a fork of Ubuntu with Gnome 3, and no Unity.
July 15th, 2011 on 12:21 am
Folks, i’m looking at everyones response. Clearly you’re all ultimate enthusiasts. My personal opinion, looking at ubuntu 11.04 in the gnome & unity interface; while it’s true that this generation of unity is a little clunky, i think this will be the wave of the future. Unity is somewhat similar to Mac, but gnome is more similar to windows. We all know that linux users hate windows right? Somehow, we still have to maintain the gnome interface if we wanna evangelize the windows users. While i’ve brought a couple of my friends to use open-source software, i’m yet to convince someone to use Linux!

I am still loving UE 2.9 Mwaaaaah !!! 😀
July 17th, 2011 on 8:31 am
I hope you are wrong. If Unity is the wave of the future then desktop computers have a very nasty future in store. Unity is an attempt to woo iphone kids and new users who don’t know or appreciate the real power of a desktop computer. Are experienced people really going to settle for a ui giving them no choice but to run the apps chosen for them? I don’t want a ui that locks me out of setting my desktop up the way I want. Such a situation will drive people like me away from Ubuntu, Gnome3 based systems and all Distros based on them. I really hope that UE doesn’t see this as its “wave of the future.” I really like UE.
July 21st, 2011 on 1:14 am
I hope I have the time for what is a wake up call. I will not look back.
September 1st, 2011 on 5:18 pm
11.4 just hate it i love ue just the way it is don`t change it like 11.4 ubuntu desktop mattgl
September 6th, 2011 on 11:37 am
TheeMahn,
You’re right. I love the EU, because the fats more than in the native ubuntu. That’s what makes the difference in the mountains of scripts and utilities available. If you want a version for tech-toys has several variants available in the market but with more advanced technical qualities only know the EU. It is increasingly being imposed by the community of those who fiercely love Linux.
September 6th, 2011 on 11:40 am
I think we should forget this version 3.0 and from work to go to 4.0 based on Ubuntu 11.10. Would not it be better?
September 6th, 2011 on 11:43 am
Theemahn
I bring the suggestion to see the possibility of including a model of Linux Mint’s menu, which is very practical and nice. You can see it too?
