Open Testing?
by TheeMahn on Jun.14, 2010, under Linux, Themes, Ubuntu, Ultimate Edition
Open beta testing is being run by admin & mods. I want everyone to know should this happen, you can expect problems as with any alpha / beta release. In the past we have only released stable releases. I have already uploaded a alpha 1 of Ultimate Edition 2.8 x64 (built off Ubuntu Maverick Meercat 10.10), it will be released to admin, mods and beta testers later today. If it is decided to open the flood gates, I will come back and drop another post expect a few days maybe a week (still have to build x86 and upload it). How about a sneak peak…

The theme etc. is not set in stone. What do you guys think of the idea, any comments good or bad are appreciated.

Really on the move with distros now. I am using 2.7 and it works very nice. Only thing I miss is the login screen and sounds from 2.3 with that great voice..
Keep up the great work TheemMahn.
cheers.

Thanks, You can get the sound scheme back by going to your sound preferences and selecting the Ultimate Edition 2.3 sound theme.

It appears Rivendell caters to Suse and provides only RPM’s I have used alien to convert each package:
theemahn@SledgeHammer:~/Downloads$ sudo alien –scripts *.rpm

hello sergio. I recently installed on my machine the ultimate edition version 2.7, which is based, according to the site, in an ubuntu 10.04.
My question is this. As is now to leave the maverick 10.10 I wonder if I can update the console version without all the customization I change that has the ultimate, because I sincerely pleases me greatly. From already thank you very much and appreciate your time. Sincerely Sergio Gryszczuk

I try and keep ppl from doing so. It can be done, however I am against the possibility of the loss of your information. I highly recommend pulling down Ultimate Edition 2.8 and testing it live, before making any rash decision. If you have the ability backing up you home folder can be a real life saver. I have known for many a year how to upgrade to each progressive O/S & never told how. I care about my users and prefer them to not be left with a salty taste in the mouth. If you would like to take the plunge I have no problem telling you how. I do have a problem with you blaming me if all goes sour.
