Am I missing off something? sorry but “This is not for the everyday user.” sounds like a kinda “pro” version, not for desktop users. Please inform, I love ultimate edition 2.5 and hope soon will get a DDR3 memory based machine in order to give a chance to the new versions.

    Currently using:
    Intel Based MB
    Core2Duo 2.1
    2 GB DDR2
    nVidia GeForce 9500GT Sparkle (1024MB)
1×80 GB IDE HDD (OS: Both Windows XP and Ultimate)
    3x500GB SATA
ATI TvWonder TvTuner (TvTime working perfectly)
    Bamboo MTE-450 Pointing system

It is an alpha, problems are to be expected. I don’t want a new guy downloading it and having bad experiences with it. It is very buggy. It is being released for testing purposes.

Thank you for answering. And thank you for your efforts in order to give us a good bundle. Even so, UE 2.5 was buggy, and had lots of problems setting up the system to be stable and fully working (I yet have problems with sound devices and tvtuner, couldn’t remove the bundled virtual machine (Qemu) and re-install the Sun Java in order to get java applications working (such as krdc and others), so. If I can help to the test, just let me know. Thanks in advance again for all the support. And I am considering supporting you, but not today man, sorry.

Ultimate Edition 2.5 or any Ultimate Edition for that matter does not include Sun Java (iced tea is an open source alternative to Sun Java). I can not pre-install Sun Java for you due to the license agreement, for that I am sorry. I am hoping Iced tea to eventually be as good as Sun Java. I have never tried nor would I ever want to remove qemu from any O/S, I use it to test the operating system I am currently working on / building; so it is no mystery that I would miss something like that. Me personally, I have never witness a stability issue in Ultimate Edition 2.5, however not all computers are the same.

Everyone is welcome to test Ultimate Edition 2.8, I however suggest to do so from the Live environment & not install it, it is an alpha release. You can read more about that on our forum & see if you are still interested in testing.

i’m pretty new to ultimate edition and linux altogether, and i hate to be needy, but i was wondering if you could make a list with system requirements for each version. I have some pretty old computers and they’re contrary sometimes.
Otherwise, you guys are awesome and I thank you very much for your work. Keep it up.

Thanks for the kudos, but varies as per each cycle. We make 2 releases to their one, 3 if you want to include Gamers. Does not mean 2.7 will not be slower then 2.6 for example. However as you have said requirements are heavier for 2.7 then 2.6. Can I solidly say will run on 256 MB of ram no. I have 1 job.

You do know a lite is coming as well as PS/3 edition. Let those questions go away first. I am, but 1 man.
