It can be done, however I am against the possibility of the loss of your information. I highly recommend pulling down Ultimate Edition 2.8 and testing it live, before making any rash decision. If you have the ability backing up you home folder can be a real life saver. I have known for many a year how to upgrade to each progressive O/S & never told how. I care about my users and prefer them to not be left with a salty taste in the mouth. If you would like to take the plunge I have no problem telling you how.
