TheeMahn is upset

I too enjoy playing with new technology. I watch the realms of people flow to Ultimate Edition 5.4. Long term supported (LTS), should at that point be kicked to the curb? I can see multiple stats that ensure I am right. I have been saying this since Ultimate Edition 2.6. I am as well as beta testers are looking to “Refresh” the Ultimate Edition 5.0 series. LTS, means very little to most at least by numbers. Do you feel I should not support LTS? I have been asked about rolling releases. By rolling back to Ultimate Edition 5.0.1 I have found a bug in my nasup software to detect and automatically pick up NAS (Network Attached Storage) that I have written initially started writing in 2012. Most will not care about it. Re-wrote it & loved it in Ultimate Edition 5.4, did absolutely everything I asked. Rolling back to 5.0.1 even with the new version fails. There is no way I would have known that, but stepping back.

In 2014, “Seagate” loved it so much they borrowed my code. I am O.K. with it it is open source, however they should have gave me at least acknowledgement.

I am going to continue to the LTS side of things. Do I need to set up a poll. Does not matter what I want. It is about you the end user. We have Millions on board, only way to move to Billions is a poll? Naturally, faster servers also coincide. We will work though this. A Prick I have been, we will build the O/S for you. I have been doing this for greater then 10 years. Software development since I was 11, 35 years ago.

Am I wasting my time?

05/13/17: Adjusted pre-requsites
I am running Ultimate Edition 4.2.4, had zero access to NAS(Network Attactched Storage) drives. While it did pick up the drive, would not allow me to login. nfs-common was missing, re-write the control file and in seconds I have my NFS based 8TB hard drive hard mounted. This is why I care, It may work for some, not all.

05/06/2017:
I have moved forward on Nasup to version 1.9.9, even wrote you fellas a manual.

If you would like to learn more about Nasup. You can learn more on our forum. I have considered writing it further to detect and pick up Linux based NAS’s Time is not on my side. Let’s see if Western Digital “Borrows” my code as well πŸ˜‰

I am adjusting tmosb (TheeMahn’s Operating System Builder) to accept version 5.0.3 a LTS is currently not treated the same way. I have written undocumented switches to “work around” the issue, digging though & rectifying such issues, I have my hands full. We will have both, Software supports building Ultimate Edition 5.7 (“Artful Aardvark”) even though Ubuntu has not set it place. LTS is my current concentration. Software is the answer. It may take me a minute, we will have both. I have got this, please allocate me the time. Did you know tmosb is the largest application on the internet currently? There are larger games, not apps. Another manpage I will have to write, probably 100 pages long. As complexity grows, so does loss in users. Simplicity was set in nasup. There is no simplicity in building Operating Systems.

I hope to eventually have a amdnaples Building software for you autonomously. Server environment is huge, yes I own the previous website. a $51 Billion dollar industry #38 on google last check & it is not even out. I will be #1, can you imagine the value? They can offer me 50 Million and will not accept it. Great to have a guy on the positive? I have never been about money. Why did you buy it? Feel free to answer that question for me.

Glenn it was a long time that I don’t talk to you. You never waste your time. You are a intelligent and visionary man. The visionary Mahn if you prefer. Go ahead ! You are good because you are wise. And the time is with you. And you learn attentionally. It is too rare today.

    1) I don’t care about LTS. Rolling release is fine for me. I prefer newer code. Look at the debacle that is plasmashell 5.8.x: 5.9 fixes the problem, except nothing based on Ubuntu LTS provides that. Good luck with PPAs, too. Nothing there for Zesty. Plus the kernel lacking basic features supporting newer processors? What gives? I build my own, but many don’t.

    2) NAS is good. Detecting NAS is great. I use NAS like a madman in my household of over a dozen machines not including tablets.

    3) I understand the feeling about Seagate. I too hate it when you spend your time, talent, effort, & energy to do something for the betterment of mankind & they don’t even rub your belly via an acknowledgement. I’ve had that happen too. I don’t like it.

    4) I hope you don’t feel like you’re wasting your time. I don’t, & as you say, I’m betting a bunch of people don’t.

    5) Good for you on the programming start. I too started early, at age 10, except that was 43 years ago! Mainframes & punch-cards. I have forgotten more languages than some know. These days, I’m not sure how much I could code, as that isn’t my job. I’m a network architecture guy nowadays.

Since you have a NAS, would you like to test nasup? If your NAS is not supported, I can make it so it does:

I aswell would love to see a Rolling Release AKA Debian version like mint has setup but better for those with issues in the Newest Ubuntu based OS’s for me to run 5.4 or 5.5 there is to much trouble involved to get the Kinks worked out enough to use it !

  • johntn

Please continue LTS. I still like and use 421 since I like Mate and haven’t been able to get 5.4 to duel boot. It loads fine but locks up on reboot. Tried it on 3 diff computers.

Ive been an ultimate edition user for about 5 years now and always carry copies of your latest version on disk with me to introduce windows users to the joys of Linux in general and Ultimate Edition specificly. Kudos to you as I have learned more about computers, O/S and Linux since my intro to U.E than I would have thought possible. Your website and O/S’s have been a virtual treasure trove of information, education and Gems I share with others at every opportunity. No, You are absolutely not wasting your time. Beleive me when I say your work is recognized and appreciated. In my eyes at least youve been the Mahn

Let’s say I was offered 50 Million for the domain, think of the impact I could make, however exiting the server market, even at a Million. Think of the good I could make as a whole. I would not be waiting for stock to roll up to a respectful level for HEDT(High End DeskTop) or Naples.

I may bail out of the stock market as early as tomorrow if I am a double bagger, which I am not far from. I have double bagged prior, but see manipulation in the stock market. I have a Google check coming could buy http://amdnaples.com for the next ten years as well as all other domains I own.

I have 4 incomes, I am far from stupid. I make money as I sleep. Just trying to think things through for our users.

Why would I bail out of the stock market tomorrow, I know many of you are not AMD fans. Many and I do mean many are worried about Intel doping the hammer to AMD. Many dropped out of AMD on ER (Earnings Report) from AMD with only 3 weeks of sales on the Ryzen and “Met Expectations” in 3 weeks, a full quarter is coming. Naples will drop and the TAM (Total Addressable Market) is massive the Vega that is coming is pennies to NVidia. Your Facebook will be rocking a Naples to try and put things in perspective. Google and Albaba is already on board.

We are not talking nickles and dimes. Look at NVidia rocking it out at $130+ a share, if I was smart I would hang 10. I have seen Goldman Sucks purchase $613 Million dollars of AMD stock at $13.70 a share locked in by SEC (Security Exchange Commission) Lock them in as they can not sell one share by our Government, they turned right around and said as a annalist and say the stock is worth $10.50. Why would you do that, knowing their conditions.

AMD releases Quarterly ER (Earnings Report) and met expectations in 3 weeks if you pull through the fine lines and dropped $3.38 in stock price in one day for meeting expectations a record drop in stock over ten years. A uphill climb that may be met tomorrow. Who do you think was sucking up shares up to 2 Million shares at a time. This is why I want out of the stock market. I call this manipulation at its finest.

I really need help and it’s just me. I am not dumb. I am a programmer actually but the dumbest things happen to me as I am trying to move from Windows to Linux. I tried Kali but that is beyond my level right now (at least to use as a professional and personal as for some reason even with Dropbox’s help I couldn’t get Dropbox installed) so I decided to try this OS. However that being said I can’t even get this OS to install. Technically it says it installs and I can continue trying the live or reboot my computer. When I reboot I get a blue screen, with a spinning circle loading screen. I left it on for 12 hours and the same thing. I have installed the iso I got from this website from the sourceforge link on two separate computers and the exact same thing happens. I would have tried another iso for this but all roads keep leading me back to the same iso and I think it’s probably not your iso anyway so can someone assist me please?
